About This Course
In this remix competition for Cubism Records, Saytek covers everything from programming and processing drums to exporting stems. In this course he deconstructs two tracks; first his original ‘Lessons in Dub’; Then his remix of the track.
You will learn:
- How to prepare a remix with good sound quality
- The steps to approach a remix
- How to deconstruct a track
Lessons:
1. Introduction
Saytek discusses his label Cubism Records, through this label he managed to release his album Machine Jams, which was well received by Carl Cox who played 8 of the tracks on his Space Ibiza closing party.
2. Drum Group
Using solely Ableton Live 10 effects and processing functions, Saytek breaks down the drum group he created to make this track. He uses processes such as Bit Reduction and Drum Buss to fatten up the group.
3. Bass & Stabs
Looking at the sub-bass layer that Saytek runs through a guitar amp. Next he layered in the dubby chord he created with Analog: 2x Sawtooth waves with Unison applied to them, Filter Delay and Echo. He then plays the track in full.
4. Exporting Stems
How to export stems properly for a remix, Saytek recommends bouncing loops of the track with Normalisation on.
5. Live Q&A
- Do you have a go to method when creating a bassline; Is there any music theory behind it that always works?
- Will the remix still work if the BPM is changed? i.e., 127-128
- Can we have access to the stems/ file of the track?
- What style do you want the remix to be in?
- How long do we have to complete the remix
- Do you use a reference track when arranging?
- Does Cubism consider dub techno tracks?
- What elements of the track do you feel need to be recognizable?
- Do you want us to only use the samples given?
- Where did you find your inspiration?
- Are you sending the original track as well as the stems to refer to?
- Can we use the sample pack as a starting point and create our own sounds?
- Must the track be mastered?

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Innovative Business Model:
- Embrace the reality of a genuine business! Our approach involves forming a group buy, where we collectively share the costs among members. Using these funds, we purchase sought-after courses from sale pages and make them accessible to individuals facing financial constraints. Despite potential reservations from the authors, our customers appreciate the affordability and accessibility we provide.
- The Legal Landscape: Yes and No:
- The legality of our operations falls into a gray area. While we lack explicit approval from the course authors for resale, there’s a technicality at play. When procuring the course, the author didn’t specify any restrictions on resale. This legal nuance presents both an opportunity for us and a boon for those seeking budget-friendly access.
- Quality Assurance: Unveiling the Real Deal:
- Delving into the heart of the matter – quality. Acquiring the course directly from the sale page ensures that all documents and materials are identical to those obtained through conventional means. However, our differentiator lies in going beyond personal study; we take an extra step by reselling. It’s important to note that we are not the official course providers, meaning certain premium services aren’t included in our package:
- No coaching calls or scheduled sessions with the author.
- No access to the author’s private Facebook group or web portal.
- No entry to the author’s exclusive membership forum.
- No direct email support from the author or their team.
We operate independently, aiming to bridge the affordability gap without the additional services offered by official course channels. Your understanding of our unique approach is greatly appreciated.
