Religion may be one of the most problematic institutions human beings ever created.

Ostensibly, religion was created to help people find “God”. But over millennia, this institution may be making it much harder for you to find “God”.

In fact, it may have become one of the world’s greatest evils, serving ultimately to block, restrict, and constrict your connection to Spirit by using guilt, shame, fear, and control to keep you disempowered.

The word “God” (or its equivalent) is thrown around in religion, but very few members of the religious hierarchy have any genuine experiential awareness of what this term is supposed to refer to.

They don’t really know God — they just have a bunch of beliefs about the concept of God.  The experiential awareness of Ultimate Reality is not something that can be taught, read about in books, or studied in a formal religious atmosphere.

That misalignment between the concept of God that religion has and the Blissful Sourceful Consciousness that God actually is is why religion can be so problematic.

Every form of inhumanity, bigotry, war, discrimination, and genocide has used “God” as its justification.  Religion claims to be the instrument for God to connect with humanity, but the institution itself is mainly an instrument for patriarchal structures to constrict, control, and gain power through fear over the masses.

It is easy to gain power when you claim to have access to Ultimate Authority.  But religion rarely if ever connects with this Higher Consciousness.

By claiming to speak for God, but really by speaking for old patriarchal structures, over many lifetimes, religion progressively constricts our inner consciousness, actually preventing us for realizing our True Divine Nature.  Religion ultimately does the exact opposite of what it says it’s doing — it puts barrier after barrier between you and your True Divine Nature (which is where God exists).

Religion, as is it typically practiced, is really at its best as a cultural organization, when it is providing help to those in need.  But so often, the Self-realization of each individual member of the community is blocked by life-negative dogma with the implicit purpose of preventing you from finding the True Source of your Being, so that the religious institution itself can remain the only true power.

You can imagine why the type of karma that is generated in a religious context can have such power, even if that karma happened in your past-lives.  Your consciousness may still be confused, based on this programming, about what the true nature of Reality is, and about how safe it is for you to pursue your spiritual goals and your soul’s purpose with freedom and joy, without fear of persecution, repercussions, and even death (as you may have literally or symbolically experienced in a past life).

If you are on a consciously spiritual path in this lifetime, then it is guaranteed that you have had many religious past lives.  It’s likely that you have been in monastic orders, and have been on both ends of the control and fear mechanism that religion is.

This subconscious programming can be very deep now, and can be keeping you in fear from really stepping into your purpose, living life freely and fully.  The programming can keep you from risking stepping out of the box, and really listening to your own inner voice. Religious programming can deeply block every area of your life — health, money, manifestation, relationships, sense of purpose, etc.
